Brief
Artdepot in North London invited me to work on their 'Altered Environment' project in 2008. The project was in collaboration with Barnet Young Carers, an organisation offering support to children who are the primary care givers to disabled parents or siblings. The project was funded by the Pentland Group and so the final artwork was installed into their head office building in East Finchley. The brief was to facilitate workshops in order for the participants to create a collaborative art-piece, which draws on their own interests and concerns.
Inspiration
The participants found that a priority that they all shared was the need to communicate with others. We looked primarily at digital technologies like mobile phones, the internet and indeed social networking sites.
Materials
Transparent vinyl, polypropylene sheets, inserted into wall mounted light-boxes.
Technique
Collage, photography, drawing and cutting.
